Finding
the Rhythm...and Encountering your Soul...
by Dorie Valentin, RYT ***www.lotusvibe.com***
Moving your body, despite what's going on in your mind. Finding the rhythm,
the flow...the sequence...your particular flow of movement.
Whether you walked into the studio to learn the basics, prepare for an event,
or try something new...what you'll experience along the way is a complete
energized way of being. The beauty of it is that when you begin, straight from
the start...week by week...you make it to your dance class despite whether or
not your feet want to cooperate. You look unto your Salsa Guru with that feeling
of 'what am I supposed to be doing'. Well, honestly, in the beginning...it's
just the numbers - 1, 2, 3 ...but then, as you become more attached to the
rhythm, as you develop your foundation to the earthly beats, and as you expose
yourself to the lofty pulse...it becomes a part of you.
A man becomes stronger and suave as he takes great care of how he maneuvers
the dance floor...how he makes it apart of his world...and how he can glide her
fiercely into a paradise where hips, spins and arms are the accents to a
rhythmic flow of euphoria. A woman will allow her energy to be guided,
then...like a splash of movement, she takes off into a smooth turn, a gentle
swaying of the hips and ignites her ability to become Diva on the dance floor.
You find yourself going from the dance class, being more adventurous and
going to a social...and after a few socials...even more secure in the dance you
allow the nightclub scene to 'get a load of you'. - or maybe you don't and you
save your dancing...for those special times where you can dance as if no one is
watching. Either way...everyone is a dancer...somewhere inside of you there is a
song playing waiting for your attention.
The birth of a dancer, whether professional or not, is an amazing transition
to go through. Imagine an art accessible to you where you can unify your mind,
body, and spirit. Your mind will hear those beats and swallow them whole, your
body will become the drum, and your spirit will become the experience of the
beat in motion.
See you either in my heels on the dance floor, or barefooted on the Mat!
Mamboliciously yours, Dorie
